Who we are
Well, we were recently named as Scotland’s happiest place to live in the ‘Happy at Home Index’, so we must be doing something right!
We serve a population of 94,000 in an area of over 2,100 km, reaching from the shores of Loch Lomond in the west, to the edge of Rannoch Moor in the north, and the former mining villages of Fallin and Plean in the east. We are fairly unique in our size and scope as a local authority – small enough to make a difference, but with a geographical reach of urban and rural locations that is almost unprecedented in Scotland, with some of the most beautiful scenery that Scotland has to offer. The area also attracts millions of tourists drawn by our heritage, our landscape - including Scotland’s first National Park - our growing cultural offering, and our extensive sport and leisure opportunities.
Our communities are as diverse as our landscape, and we are committed to working with them and our partners to help make the Stirling area somewhere everyone can thrive.
Our work is guided by The Stirling Plan, which lays out the priorities for Stirling Council and our partners for tackling inequalities and improving outcomes in the area. It explain how we work together to help people to be:
- part of a prosperous economy that promotes inclusive growth opportunities across our communities
- healthy, and able to live active, full and positive lives within supportive communities
- skilled and supported to make a positive contribution to our communities
- part of a safe and caring community within an attractive and sustainable environment
If you join us in working in our People or Finance teams, you’ll be part of something that aims to help achieve these things for our communities in a variety of different ways, from supporting our ambitions around the Scottish Fair Work Framework, to delivering robust Workforce Planning activities, to supporting our colleagues wellbeing across the Council and delivering robust financial and budget management practice.
